Back home again

440 km later and I'm home again. Bike and gear full of dead flies. But I'm very happy after all those hours on the bike. Washed the flies off my biker gear and I am going to wash the bike tomorrow and do the final shopping. Now I'm tired and need some sleep.

Preparing for track days

Now I know how to use them. Those things you use to tie down the bike to the trailer. I would never be able to figure that out by my self, that's for sure! Bought them yesterday and got myself a lesson in how to use them. Today I had to buy a travel towel that don't use that much space in my backpack and dries fast and that I can bring with me when traveling with my bike. I already have travel sheet that's really small when it's in the backpack. Now I only need to buy a waterproof over suit to wear when riding my bike when it's raining. Maybe need to buy some more chain lube too. But do I need any tools or something if I accidentally brake something? Is there anything I could need for the weekend in Kemora, Finland? Asked my older brother and he got himself a big laugh and said to me that the thing I need to bring is Gaffer tape and steel wire. That will fix most things. I don't know. That doesn't sound like something I would do. Now it's just a

Updating maps

I don't like upgrading things. I had to update the maps in my Tom Tom Rider 2 before I left to visit my parents. Never ever do that the night before you are about to leave somewhere. It ended up with all maps that was in the navigator except Gran Canaria disappeared even from my safety copy. I just can't believe I did that, what did I do wrong? And I thought that it does not matter because I was going to put in a new map for the west and central Europe there instead of the old one and then I needed to remove the old map anyway so there will be enough space on the memory card. But the new map turned out to be bigger than the SD memory card. Now I didn't have a map at all. Except for Gran Canaria. Where did that one come from in the first place? I put the at the moment useless Tom Tom Rider 2 in my backpack and went the motor way I'm familiar with down to Småland and decided to solve the problem down here and then I can go the curvy roads home if I want. So today I

Visiting parents - long drive

440 km on the bike in one day yesterday. A little more than 5 hours of driving. Went to visit my parents in an other part of Sweden and I'm sitting at their place right now writing this. It was a lot of motor way driving on my way here. I was expecting that the body would be sore after the driving but it's not worse than usually. Probably thanks to 3 hours of Koryu Uchinadi training yesterday before I headed off towards the south of Sweden. We were 4 kratekas practicing yesterday. I'm not going to drive my bike today but maybe tomorrow. I want to try out all the curvy roads where I practiced motorcycle driving many years ago when I was going to test for the license. I was still living in this little mini town back then. Maybe I go some more curvy roads instead of the motor ways when I go back in a few days.

Driving after a rainy day

Finally I got on the bike out to the curvy roads again yesterday. After 5 minutes it started to rain as crasy. If I went back home? Of course not, needed to test how water proof my equipment is or something. Kept driving a lot more carefully so the bike shouldn't slip on the wet road. The mind was fully occupied with the driving. When I finally arrived to Rosenhill it stopped raining. I put the bike in the parking lot. Watched it standing there with the green fields of Grödinge in the background. It was steaming a lot from the bike after the rain and I just thought, no matter how wet and cold I am right now. I just love this moment, standing there watching the bike in this surroundings. Had some water to drink and an ice cream sitting there watching a few other bikes there. I saw a white Ducati Monster (?) that I just fell In love with. I got a big smile all over my face when the owner started it and I heard the sound of it. Went out to Slingerbulten after a while and the r

Dinner out yesterday

Went out for some Japanese food yesterday to celebrate my 5 years of karate training. I had some Gyoza. There is a few places here that makes them the way I like them and this is one of them. Ended up in a park with a Caffe Latte To Go after that. It was very nice sitting there in the sun. There was no training and not very much time on my bike either. No, thats not right, there was a lot of time on my bike on my way home. Got stuck in one af all traffic jams due to improving the roads in Stockholm and the traffic moved at a crawl. It took for ever to get home. And there wasn't enough space to get past the line of cars as I use to because of the road improvement work. Found this on the youtube yesterday when I got home. Someone had put a link in a biker forum where to buy them and I started to google about it. Why can't I have one of those? LOL SF506 RC Motorcycle (Need to find out how to put a youtube video here... I should know that...)

5 years of karate today!!!

Wonderful weather and I was stuck at work. Almost everyone I know has vacation but I work until Friday. After work I went to the Dojo and practiced some Karate. It has been one week since I was in the Dojo last time. Feels like a month or something but it was nice to do some kicking and punching again. Today is the day when I have been practicing Karate for 5 years by the way, and I hope for many more. Looked in my Work Out Diary and it looks like I haven't been training a lot lately, not as much as I use to. Thanks to the back pain last week and less karate lessons in the dojo during the summer I got some rest that was good for me. I'm just not used to it, but feel that I probably could get used to it very quickly. oops!

Bike wash on a sunny day

Now the bike is clean and shiny again. I finally have found a place that also has garden hose that I can use instead of high pressure washer. I don't want water and dirt driven into bearings by a pressure washer, but most car wash places don't have other options. OKQ8 Fruängen in Hägersten has. Hope they will keep them! When I got back from the bike wash place it was time for lunch. I went to Kista on the bike and had some Nachos. Mmmm! That was nice. Got home again and was a bit bored and went out to "Bulten" and had a coffee at Rosenhill again. Lots of bikes there as always, it was a sunny day and every biker seemed to be out driving. Tomorrow its Monday again, where did the weekend go?

Inlines

For the first time in two years I went out on my inlines. That was nice. My muscles will probably be sore tomorrow from all the uphills. Stayed out for 1 hour and 40 min, I think that's a good start. Had lunch at a sushi place I like today and then had a caffe latte in the city. Did buy a new book as well with some tips how to take care of the bike. I don't know that much about things like that yet. My friends gets themselves a good laugh all the time when I ask them the silliest things. Need someone to teach me some of the basic things I should know about, so I don't have to embarrass myself by asking in different biker communities at the internet. I'm going to try to find a book about good technique in driving a bike. It seems like there only is books about that in English and I couldn't find any in the biggest bookstore in Stockholm. Need to search the internet for a good one.

And now what...

Got a bit bored today. Everyone I know had other plans today, some friends are driving their bikes around in Europe for a week, like Amsterdam and places like that. I had to work and couldn't join them. I have to work one more week before I can have my holiday. There is no training at the Dojo at Fridays in the summer. An other friend is just out of town tonight so I couldn't go out driving my bike with him either and so on. I'm the only one without plans it seems to! Feeling a bit alone and forlorn I got on my bike after work and went for some nice driving on "Bulten", the same road as yesterday. Tried out some useful tips I got from my Chiropractor this Tuesday how to sit on the bike. The driving gets better, I come closer to the bike and it's probably good for the back of the neck too! Keeping the chin in and getting the chest forward a bit. First I got it all wrong and I got the opposite effect and the top of the helmet got in the way of my sight. After tr

Bikers in the sunset - Summer

There was a lot of biking yesterday too. I met up with two of my friends right after work, just went to leave my backpack at home first. Got stuck in a traffic light on my way there that just stayed red like forever. I have never had that problem with my bike like some people have when the traficlights don't recognize them. Thats why I think the lights are probably just broken. If you pass it when it's red and get caught you loose your licence. So I just stayed there and waited. We went to Bulten (Slingerbulten) that is one of the curvy roads around Stockholm that bikers drive over and over again. We stopped and had coffee, a sandwich and some water at Rosenhill. There was a lot of other bikers there too. After that we went to Skanssundet and from there to Nynäshamn. I wasn't back at home in Stockholm until 10:30 in the evening. Had trouble getting to sleep last night again. To much adrenaline in the body after the driving or what? To many thoughts in my mind? Don&#

No Karate - Crazy Headache!

I was suppose to go to the dojo today but my head was totaly out of order when I woke up. Not even the medication for headache helped to get rid of it. Usually I go to the Dojo anyway and it disappear when I'm practicing, but this was way too much pain. No Karate today means it will be a whole week between my last training in the Dojo and the next one! Don't like! In the mean while I can practice some Kata and Koryu Uchinadi instead on my own.

Trailer for bikes.

I've found them! Yesterday we got together, the three of us that are going in the same car to the track for 4 days, and we tried to get three motorcycles up on one small trailer. Might be a problem to secure them all. But we got them up on the trailer all of them at last. Unbelievable! We decided that we are going to put the lowest bike inside the car and take only the Str III and the last one on the trailer instead. That's probably much safer for the bikes. I really love my Str III you know, and I don't want to drop it from the trailer. I checked with the organizers that there will be some other girls too participating. I don't want to be the only one there. Now we are at least 6 or 7 girls that are going to drive our bikes, and many of the guys there brings their family there. Yesterday I showed my parents the pictures from the Go Kart track. They wanted to see some pictures me driving the bike. We don't live in the same part of the country and they haven&

Karate practicing again!

The back is now much better, so I went to the Dojo yeasterday. It was nice to see my Martial Arts friends again. I was way too tired to go there but I went there anyway. With training in the Dojo only two times every week due the summer it feels like I have been away for weeks when I get back there after four days without it. Strange feeling!

On my Bike on a Go kart track

Nice! First time with my bike on a Go Kart track. Well, first time ever on a track for me at all. Couldn't fall asleep the night before, sometimes I just can't. Was still awake at the sun rise. Had about two huors sleep before I went up to have some breakfast and leave towards Rörken Motorstadion in Uppsala. Rörken - here I come! One hour motorway drive to Uppsala. I was a bit tired that early in the morning so I decided to start carefully. When I got closer to Uppsala I found out they had changed, moved and rebuilt all the roads all over the place so my GPS was a bit confused. Need to update the maps and information in it as soon as possible. Finally I got there by guessing a lot. The last part of the roads turned out to be gravelled roads! I haven't been driving on that for many, many years! I tried to remember to relax all the time and let the bike just do it's work. I haven't tried this bike on that kind of roads yet and it's still intact now so it

Saturday Rosenhill

Saturday and I went to Rosenhill for a Caffe Latte and an ice cream so I could get an excuse for some driving today too. Yesterday made me want to just stay on the bike. Forever or something. Met another Triumph owner there who looket at my Street Triple, we talked about that for a while and he told me about some nice roads I just have to try sometime! When I got back home it was time to get something to eat and that ended up at the best Mongolian Barbeque in Stockholm that I like.

Friday on my bike

After work I went to meet a friend of mine who is also a biker. He was going to show me some of the most common roads where people go to get some nice curves and tricky driving here around. We started out at the fuel station in Västberga and headed of towards Värmdö. Unfortunately we got stuck in a really big traffic jam. We got out of the traffic jam and moved on to Rindö and from there to Vaxholm. On the way there we had some nice driving to the first car ferry. Oh, that was a new one for me! Asked my friend for instructions, what to be aware of on the ferry. He told me to get into the front before the cars to the Bike-places, keep first gear in and when the ferry stops, keep both feet on the ground and hold the front breaks in case of the ferry bumps into the landing-stage. Guess which one of the bikers on the ferry was really focused when we got to the landing-stage at the other side of the water. We used the ferries like 4 times during the trip. We stoped in Vaxholm for somet

Friday!!!!

Friday finally!!! Sunny weather today. My back feels much better. Took the bike for work today. Happy! No practicing today I guess, maybe a few Solo practices carefully. Maybe I go out driving my bike tonight. Have a good coffee somewhere. Wooohoooo!!!

Can't make up my mind...

Thursday and my back is still in pain so I didn't take my Street III for work for the first time in a long time. I missed it like crazy the whole day. It looked so lonely standing there under it's cover when I left home. Booked that appointment with my chiropractor until next week so I have to wait until Tuesday before I get this fixed. Now at least the back is slightly better even without doing anything about it, but I don't know if it is a good thing to take the bike for a drive later tonight. Maybe I should just wait until tomorrow and see how it is then. If I can wait that long!!! Today is also one of those days I use to practice Koryu Uchinadi but that won't happen. No way with this back. Next Martial Arts training at all will probably be two days after me visiting the chiropractor I guess. That's how it usually works. Tomorrow we have planned to go out driving with our bikes, me and a friend of mine. He has a Kawasaki Ninja that is really fast. I ju

Back hurts!!!

Wednesday and my back hurts like crazy. For no reason at all. It just started to hurt in the middle of the Karate practicing in the Dojo. I didn't even do anything that could have caused it, it just happends now and then. Need to go to my chiropractor. First available appointment is on Tuesday next week. Probably shouldn't drive my bike before that if the back does not get better I think. This week has been full of bruces and injuries from training, and now this. What a crazy week!!! Really hope my back will be better soon, because on Sunday there will be a track day only for women on bikes on a Go Kart Track north of Stockholm. To practice how to use the breaks safely and how to drive one's motorcycle through curves safely. I really, really want to go there.

Rain, rain, rain...

Tuesday and I wanted to go out driving my bike but didn't go. Because of the rain. I managed to get home with the bike between the showers. So what did I do instead after work? Have no idea, had one of those strange days doing nothing useful at all. Just needed to relax i guess. Took care of my body from yesterdays practicing by just trying to recover. So I just read a lot in the Bikers communities at the internet, biker magazines and stood at the kitchen window watching my bike just longing for driving it.

Bruises

Practicing in the Dojo after work yesterday. Swollen leg, bruises on the inner side of both knees. Bruises on both legs and arms. How did all that happend? I haven't had bruices like this since I was to a seminar in Holland!!!! Scratches at three places on my hand, had to put trainers tape and things all over it to not get blod on everybodys Gi. But it was a good training. Lots of fun! I don't use to look like this after training and I won't wear a skirt in a few days after this!!!

Biker Kirin on her Street Triple

No practicing yesterday and no practicing today. I have been way to tired and that's for no reason at all. So today I went out for a drive with my Street Triple instead. That usually helps. Just driving around on the countryside I found this perfect road for bikes. It turned out to be one of the most popular roads for bikers around Stockholm. It has this café, Rosenhill, where a lot of bikers meet with their motorcycles every weekend when it's nice weather. Some of my friends use to stop there, and now I know how to get there too. When I got home I wasn't that tired any more. Just driving around helps a lot.

So tired

Yesterday I was just way to tired to go to training. We ended up at Espresso House with a good Coffee instead planning some details for the Tatsu Karate website. During the day I did some Pinan Nidan practicing. It's a bit difficult to do it properly when you don't have enough space but I did my best. Now it's time for some breakfast and then to go to the Dojo for some Koryu Uchinadi practicing on our own.

5 years of Karate

Todays Koryu Uchinadi practicing was Kihon Kamae Waza Solo and Kihon Uke Waza Solo level 2. It's not remembering the moves in the exercise that is difficult now. It's to do the movements the right way. To remember to use the hips and things like that. I have also practiced some Sankukai Kata today and it's getting better all the time. Just needs a lot of practice. Realized that this July 14 I have practiced Karate for 5 years. Most amazing is that I started practicing Karate at all at that age, not flexible at all and having no coordination what so ever. People don't believe me when I tell them now. Now I'm here, practicing at least a little every day, traveling to other countries for seminars and Gasshukus, practicing several martial arts. Maybe I should just celebrate that day.

Kihon, Sparring and Self Defence

Today we started with strictly Kihon Suri Ashi Gyaku Tsuki, Mae Geri and Mawashi Geri. When we had finished the Kihon training for today we did some Sparring with low kicks and kicking and punching to the body and the head. We only do skin touch to the head at our Dojo, and some more contact to the rest of the body. We practiced some self defense techniques on the ground as well. How to defend yourself against someone who is punching you in different situations, like if the opponent are sitting on top of you. Last thing we did was to get up standing again and break the opponents balance in different ways. It's important to move your own body when doing that.

Tuesday - Practicing at home

Yesterday I tried to focus on the Kihon Uke Waza Solo level 2. I just don't do it good enough yet to go to next level. Now it's with the Ashi Sabaki and Uke. Next step will be to add the Tsuki. Late yesterday I also looked into Pinan Shodan Bunkai. I don't know where to start with the Bunkai Practicing, but now I at least got two that I can start out with. The Morote Uchi Uke and the Shuto Uke.

Pinan Shodan Bunkai - Morote Uchi Uke

Tori holds Uke's clothes with both hands. Uke strikes with the right arm over Toris one arm and sticks it down between the arms towards the left arm to do the Morote Uchi Uke. This will make Tori loose the balance a little and Toris head goes forward to one side. Uke steping forward to the Senkosu dachi is to take care of Toris balance by pushing his arm to the side in which the head went. From here Uke puts the left arm around Toris head and grab the ear (or fish hooking), takes a step back to Shiko dachi and do the Gedan barai without letting the ear go. Tori falls to the ground backwards.

Back to normal!

Today I was able to train as hard as I use to for the first time after the cold. That makes me so happy. We started the training with some sparring with punching only and continued with punching and low kicks only. We also practiced to get up from the ground as soon as possible when the fight goes down there. It's really difficult if you are the one on the ground and the opponent still standing up. Or in a self defence situation if the opponents friends come and start kicking you into the head or something. Try to get up as fast as you can. I have to practice that a lot! After a short stretching we did a lot of spinning, jumping high kicks of all kind. Just playing around having fun with those the rest of the training. We don't practice them very often. It got a bit late because I stayed in the dojo for a while after the training talking to my friends and doing a lot of stretching. Some body parts will hurt badly tomorrow after doing all the high kicks!!!

Celebrating midsummer

Friday morning we went out to a small Island to celebrate midsummer eve with some friends. To get there you need a small boat and there are no cars on the island, only a lot of old mopeds and motorcycles with four wheels with trailer to transport all the baggage and even some people. We were about 12 persons at our friends summer cottage, both adults and children, rising a midsummer pole and dancing "little frogs dance" around it together with the other people at the island. After that it was time for eating traditional midsummer food and have some snaps and drinking songs with that. We also have this tradition among our friends to play football (soccer) later that day and I just took a lot of photos of it instead of trying to play. Last time I tried to play the others almost rolled on the ground laughing at my, what they called, "Kung-fu techniques" at the football field. I didn't play football (soccer) as a kid you know. Maybe next time. There

Mixed training

In yesterdays class in the Dojo we practiced some Self defence situations. Trying different techniques and strategies when someone hold your arms, grabs your clothes or bear hugs you. I ended up in the Koryu Uchinadi "Gyaku Waza" exercise a few times!!! Who could think that?!! Practicing the two person drills really works! We were also sparring with rules from the "All style" competition. "All Style" is held in Sweden several times every year and you can compete within different rules. At the moment our Dojo don't have any students attending competitions but we still do a lot of sparring in the Dojo. Not only WKF fighting, but self defence sparring and some kind of MMA sparring too. Today we were fighting with the no-punching-to-the-head rules from "All Style" which contains low-kicks but no punching to the head. But I think you are allowed to kick to the head. I need to check that out. We tried to apply the rules without dropping the gu

Same problem - Different Kata

Today I'm working on the Bassai dai kata. When I started to do it I realized a lot of things I need to change. Most of them the same as in the other Katas. It's strange in doing Kata how many new things you can find that you wasn't aware of being wrong before. This always happends after improving on an other one. When you start to work on an improvement in one Kata the same issues pops up in the next one too. That goes for every Kata I do now. Maybe you just need only one to practice? No, I'm just kidding. You probably need all of them for different reasons. But I still believe I need to do more Kata training no matter what. Next step will be to practice some Bunkai as well. I have learned some and I'm struggeling with remembering them and finding them in the Kata. That's strange because the Kata should be a good help to remember them, that's what it is meant for. Isn't it? Why don't we learn Bunkai first and then the Kata? Things would be much

Coffee and planning - almost no training

Having a coffee at one of my favorit places in Södermalm in Stockholm we started to plan the changes in the Sankukai karate Dojos web site . Now we have a plan at least. It got a bit late and I ran out of time so I could only practice Koryu Uchinadi for a short while today, Kihon Uke Waza Futari Geiko, Kihon Heishu Waza Futari Geiko, Kihon Kamae Waza Solo. Earlier today I practiced some Sankukai related kata. Wanted to work on the Rohai this time, one of the advanced katas, instead of yesterdays Pinan katas. Sometimes I just feel like I don't have enough time to do all the things I want.

A lot of work to do

Yesterday I practiced some Kata before I went to the Dojo. I choose Pinan Shodan because I haven't practiced that for a long time and wanted to compare it to how I performed it before. Realized that I was aware of a few new details this time that I wasn't aware of before. That's good and that was what I hoped for. The other Kata I choose for yesterday was Pinan Nidan because of the revealing postures, fighting stances and body movements. Most of the things I need to improve shows when I do the Pinan Nidan. Later I went to the Dojo to see my friends there. Back to basics and Anders Sensei teached us some Ippon Kumite where I could work on my stability problems and adjust my postures when doing my techniques. Very useful. When I was doing some stretching after the Karate I also made a list of things to improve. These are things that should get me more stability. Markus Sensei told me that one of the things that makes my Karate looking a bit wobbly is that I don't en

Kobudo

Today was a bit cloudy and windy but that did not stop us from practicing Bo out in the garden. We use to do that in Sundays when it is summery weather. Or any weather. We even went out with our Bo's when it was still some snow here the last Sunday in March. Isn't that a bit crazy? Now it's at least summer outside and nice weather.

Using the Video camera

It's saturday and this morning we went to the Dojo and practiced for several hours by ourselves. We started with Koryu Uchinadi. I'm still struggeling with Kihon Uke Waza Futari Geiko, Kihon Heishu Waza Futari Geiko, Kihon Kaisho Waza Futari Geiko, Kihon Keri Waza Solo and Kihon Keri Waza Futari Geiko but it gets better all the time. After the KU training we continued with some Sankukai related practice. We used the video camera to get some help to work with my katas. So I can see with my own eyes what I need to improve. This time I did the Pinan Nidan kata, the Seienchin kata and the Seipai kata. We also used the video camera to document some old and new Pinan Shodan Bunkai, so we don't forget them and can work with them more.

Practicing on my own

Today was a good day. After work I was driving in the countyside with my Triumph Street Triple 675 for a while before I went home for some Karate practicing. Driving my bike is like meditation, I leave everything else behind and I can drive for hours without any thoughts entering my head. Back at home I first practiced some Koryu Uchinadi on my own. Kihon Kamae Waza Solo, Kihon Heishu Waza Solo and Kihon Keri Waza Solo. After that I practiced some Sankukai related stuff, some Kata that I need to improve so I started with Rohai and Seipai. There are 11 different katas I'm suppose to know at the next test. I have a lot work to do. I had planned to do some Bunkai as well but I ran out of time. Maybe later, otherwise I will continue where I left tomorrow.

Träning i natten

the red pill or the blue pill...

Men ändå.

Körde lite Koryu Uchinadi hemma i vardagsrummet.
